這幾天Kimi K3的熱度不減，開源大模型的能力不僅追上了美國最頂級的AI，甚至還有超出的地方，美國的AI敘事天塌了。
在眾多討論中，也有美國人開始反思了，Kimi創始人楊植麟是在美國獲得的博士學位，師從AI領域的大牛Russ Salakhutdinov，但他沒有留在美國，而是回國創業，創立了月之暗面公司，只用3年時間就追上了OpenAI、Anthropic的旗艦大模型。

Many of my international PhD students do choose to stay in the U.S. Of course the U.S. immigration process can be quite intimidating and uncertain, even for superstar PhD graduates from places like CMU.
美國人反思留不住AI人才，這樣的戲碼是不是很熟悉？而且以往這種反思多數是發生在國內網際網路上的，很多大V攻擊國內沒有創新的時候就是這種論調，現在真的是時代變了。
那楊植麟為何沒留在美國創業？這事也沒有X上網友反思的那麼玄乎，Russ Salakhutdinov也解釋了楊植麟畢業時的選擇，導師當時直接聯繫了一位能直接向庫克報告的蘋果高管，對方詢問楊植麟是否願意加入蘋果公司。
Russ Salakhutdinov表示楊植麟想回中國，蘋果甚至表態楊植麟可以去蘋果中國區工作，誠意還是很高的。
但是楊植麟最終沒有選擇留在美國，而是回到中國創業，還跟導師表示如果連創辦自己的公司都不嘗試一下，自己會後悔一輩子。
總的來說，楊植麟不留在美國的決定並不算複雜，也沒有網上的那麼多陰謀論，就是希望回到國內創辦自己的事業，不希望人生有什麼後悔的。
話說回來，楊植麟在美國讀博士時中美兩邊的AI競爭還沒這麼激烈，如果留在美國創業，可能獲得的投資和算力資源更充足，然而他在美國能不能招募到Kimi現在的這些人才也不好說。
更何況以美國當前對AI競爭的心態，楊植麟在美國創業也會面臨著選邊站的麻煩，不能100%站美國利益這邊，等待他的結果可想而知。
