科技媒體Windows Central報道稱，微軟已向Alpha和Alpha Skip-Ahead通道的Xbox Insider項目成員推送「光碟轉數位」功能測試。該功能內部開發代號為Positron，旨在讓玩家將已擁有的實體光碟遊戲轉換為數位授權版本。
微軟表示該功能既是遊戲保存工作的重要組成部分，也是為下一代Xbox主機進行技術準備。具體操作上，玩家在Xbox Series X主機中插入兼容的Xbox One或Xbox Series X實體遊戲光碟，完成安裝並啟動遊戲後，系統將自動為其解鎖數位授權。此後，玩家可取出光碟，在無需放入光碟的情況下直接運行該遊戲。
這一機制並非將數位授權永久綁定至首位使用者。若玩家出售或借出光碟，新持有人首次安裝後即可獲得數位授權，原持有人的授權則相應暫停，直至重新取回光碟或再次購買遊戲。獲得數位授權的兼容Xbox Play Anywhere遊戲，可在Xbox Ally等設備上遊玩，亦支持通過Xbox Cloud Gaming進行串流。
