PlayStation is making very strong inroads in China already. Has been for years. Both the PS4 and PS5 have sold millions of units in the country, both through licensed national models, and grey market imports. ⚠️The growth of the console and PC gaming market in China does not necessarily mean competing against mobile. Mobile is and will remain dominant, by and large. However, millions of traditional mobile gamers are also playing more and more on consoles and PC, and spending more on premium games. It's not a zero sum situation. It's more a rising-tide-lifting-all-boats kind of situation... Besides that, tensions with Japan are almost totally irrelevant to this matter, imo. Japanese pop-culture and IPs are immensely popular in China. Some of the most successful international theatrical releases in China in recent years have been Japanese movies. Animes and manga are super popular too, and have been for many years! Many Japanese brands continue to sell well in China, from consumables to gadgets, cars and more. Of course "seasonal" political crisis between China and Japan are a common resurging issue, that can indeed momentarily affect the availability and distribution of licensed Japanese goods and content in China. But in recent decades, those have generally been very ephemeral episodes with little lingering damage...and even during those times, the demand and availability of goods never ceased completely (one way or another).
